Driving by Example

Maybe it’s more prevalent in LA because we spend so much time sitting in traffic, but while home on break I noticed something pretty cool, cars everywhere driving around with pink license plate holders that say, “Drive Pink.” After 1 or 2, I just thought whatever, but after seeing 10 to 15, I started taking pictures. It’s part of AutoNation’s DRV PNK initiative to raise awareness and funds for cancer research. I think this is awesome.

The Drive Pink program is powerful. AutoNation donates to cancer charities and encourages people to show support by putting these pink plate frames on their cars. What I really like about it is how visible it is. Whether you’re parked, sitting in LA traffic or flying down the freeway, people see it. It’s a conversation starter and a reminder that cancer impacts so many lives.

I don’t own a car myself as I’m not yet old enough to drive, but as I practice and learn, when I do get my first car, I know I’d want a license plate holder like this.

Seeing these pink frames everywhere in LA not only reinforces for me that Angelenos really are good people at heart, but reminds me that small actions can lead to big changes. Whether it’s wearing a wristband, organizing a fundraiser, or just displaying a pink license plate holder, every effort counts. Programs like Drive Pink prove that businesses can make a difference and inspire people.

I hope more companies follow AutoNation’s lead and use their platforms to support causes like cancer research. And for anyone reading this who already has a car, maybe think about getting a Drive Pink frame to show your support. It’s a small step, but it can mean a lot to someone who’s fighting cancer.
