Parents Easily Mobilize

Last weekend, I was surprised when right before I was about to walk out the door with my dad to head to my hockey game, I noticed him wearing the pink ribbon on his shirt. I was happy that he was showing support but was confused because he doesn’t usually wear it to my games. In the car, he informed me that all the parents were dressing up in pink for breast cancer awareness month.

When we arrived, everyone had pink on. Some people had pink hats or pink shoes and some people had a full pink outfit. When I walked into the locker room, my teammates and I all stuck pink pin stickers on our helmets too.

Through one parent sending a quick email out and posting a short note on the team bulletin board, everyone had a good time tailgating in pink, watching our game and spreading awareness for this important cause. It was a great day, we won our game and I’m so glad that as a team, we could be a part of a bigger cause from the ice.
