People Love Sports

My sister had a lacrosse tournament last Saturday at the Rose Bowl. It was freezing cold in Pasadena. They stunk and lost in the double digits and to top it off it rained here in LA and everyone was cold and wet. Even with all of the drama, my sister impressed me wearing a breast cancer awareness ribbon on her warm ups. It occurred to me (while soaking wet and shivering with my mom and dad and the other fans) that people really like sports and go to extreme lengths to watch them. Especially if you’re really good, people come to watch you and they also notice what you’re wearing. This goes for anything where you get a lot of attention, the Spelling Bee, Speech and Debate, Battle Bots, etc. When I posted about being an influencer, this is an example of a stage you are standing on where, even as a kid, you can make a big difference raising awareness about any cause that’s important to you. While my sister and I both wear a subtle bracelet that people often ask about, ribbons are a much bolder statement that people immediately see and recognize and are easy to make at home. I have included a tutorial on how to make a ribbon here.
